A certain culture of healthy eating and its benefits we're maturing. Yet unfortunately we miss the sport and regular physical activity and healthy; we know what we eat and how it makes us feel good and what we should avoid to have no health problems. We should learn more about the physiological mechanisms of physical activity and therefore of its benefits in order to spread this culture further. Sport as a means to train your body, as beauty , like anything else but we do not yet mature which is important for our health and not only for preventing obesity (which in itself is a disease); cardiovascular and metabolic diseases … but ALSO to reach neoplastic diseases (AND TUMORS).
In addition to several studies that have shown that sport or regular physical activity of approximately 50 minutes a day give us four years more life (
? ) o reduce the risk of getting breast cancer 30 % or of 20 % to get prostate cancer or finally protect us from lung cancer and colorectal cancer… it was also understood what are the mechanisms that determine such excellent results on our organism.
How then physical activity acts on our body (blood circulation, endocrine system, nervous, immune…)?
So not just on the outside like the muscles …of course moving helps you stay fit, to keep the musculoskeletal system young and efficient; the cardio one- circulatory and to lose weight. To understand this there would be no need to refer to scientific studies: personal experience is enough. Proper physical activity or sport have other hidden virtues.
First of all, it is good to know that physical activity is distinguished from aerobic exercise: (which activates after approx 3-4 minutes of
intense effort and stabilizes later 20), where muscle tissue uses oxygen to synthesize ATP, the molecule that supplies energy to the process; and anaerobic: wherein the synthesis of ATP occurs in the absence of oxygen.
With anaerobic exercise, the muscles train and strengthen, but there is no acceleration of the heartbeat, making it less effective in terms of disease prevention, in particular , cardiovascular.
Regular aerobic activity instead helps to reduce the body mass index and therefore, indirectly, to prevent obesity-related cancers . The increase in blood flow oxygenates the tissues, also facilitating the arrival of anti-inflammatory substances (chronic inflammation can promote the appearance of mutations in cells and consequently the transformation of healthy tissue into cancer) and the elimination of toxic or waste substances. This process also takes place in the lung, which is a richly vascularized organ whose function is precisely the oxygenation of the blood and the elimination of waste substances here too.
Moving speeds up intestinal transit. It facilitates the evacuation of the alve but also accelerates the passage of substances that are in contact with the mucous membrane . The longer the time in which the feed waste remains in contact with the stomach and intestine mucous membranes, the higher the risk that the toxic or mutagenic compounds contained will damage the cells. The acceleration of the transit time of food in the gastrointestinal tract is considered one of the main reasons why the movement prevents colon cancer.
Constant and moderately intense sports practice reduces, instead, the concentration of some hormones (especially estrogen) to which tumors such as those of the uterus are sensitive, breast and prostate.
In addition, sport increases the sensitivity of tissues to insulin and decreases its release into the blood, favoring the use
immediate sugar. L'insulin, despite being an essential hormone for the body, if too high in the bloodstream it stimulates inflammation excessively and facilitates tumor growth . This is exactly why, when it comes to prevention with nutrition, we always recommend the consumption of foods with a low glycemic index, that is, those that slowly increase the level of insulin in the blood.
Finally, physical activity stimulates the immune system, regulating the number and activity of some essential cells, including macrophages and natural killer lymphocytes, implicated in cancer. Now that we know something more we should be more motivated and try to motivate those who unfortunately are sedentary.
